About this one
This harvesting tool is stackable, allowing for multi-stage filtration, and the mesh is replaceable by removing the inner lock.
- 100 micron will extract adults from detritus
- 38 micron will extract juveniles and adults but capture some detritus
- 25 micron will extract nauplii and rotifers but capture lots of detritus and/or drain slowly
It is good practice to harvest only the adults when it comes to copepods. Leaving the nauplii and juveniles behind keeps reproduction running at maximum, since reproductive output declines as adults age.
The screen is replaceable: our nylon micron mesh circles are laser cut at 130 mm to fit, in every grade the tool comes in.
How a harvest runs
Each grade keeps what it is meant to
Hole size is the whole decision. Run one grade on its own, or nest them coarse over fine and let a single pour do the sorting for you. The mesh is the part that wears, and it is the part you can replace: take the inner lock ring out and the screen lifts with it.

Culture water carries every life stage at once, along with the detritus and shed cases that come with a working culture.

Adults stay, detritus goes
The all rounder. It holds adult copepods and lets the detritus straight through, which is the harvest most people want most of the time.

The middle ground, and the one to reach for when you want a mixed harvest. Some detritus comes along for the ride.

Nauplii and rotifers
The finest we cut. It catches almost everything, so expect it to drain slowly and to hold a fair bit of detritus with the catch.

What drains through is the culture water itself, ready to go back in or to meet the next grade down.
Harvest the adults and leave the rest behind. Reproductive output falls away as adults age, so a culture you keep taking the big ones out of stays productive far longer than one you strip.
